Josie Law is a passionate creative and the current treasurer for the Abertay Woman in Games Society. Inspired by the soundtracks of Okami, The Legend of Zelda, and Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth, she now combines her narrative and compositional skills to create vivid worlds and memorable characters.
As each character she writes must have their own voice within the text, so too must they have one in their music; at the end of the day, she wants to present her stories in the best possible light through carefully crafted words, art, and song. She makes sure to treat every project she works on, both personal and professional, with a strict sense of purpose; once she commits to doing something, she’ll do it to the very best of her ability.

Josie attended the only state-funded specialist music school in Europe that offered full-time education from primary to high school. Over a period of nine years, she learnt music history, theory, composition and music technology. After achieving a wide variety of qualifications (See FAQs), she left high school and now applies the knowledge she gained to compose music in a wide variety of genres.
She’s composed music for Rookery Publications, specifically writing sea shanties and a carol to be used in their upcoming system agnostic TTRPG adventure, Ship of Fools. More information on this can be found on their Coiled Crown page.
She was the lead audio producer of Contrary Motion, a co-op puzzle shooter with, composing music and compiling sound assets for use throughout the whole game.
Below are some examples of her music:
Josie has spent years cultivating her skills in writing. From short works less that 500 words long, to novel-length stories spanning tens of chapters and thousands of words, breathing life into words is not something unfamiliar to her.
She specialises in character-based works, and particularly enjoys linking her musical compositions to the stories she writes. Dialogue in particular comes easy to her, as does ensuring each character has their own unique voice.
She worked as the Lead Narrative Designer on her DES207 team’s game, Under the Ice. The material she created for this is listed below, as well as a host of other projects she’s invested hours into.
Psst, Josie here! Concept artists overburdened with work? Want the person who knows the characters they’ve made best to work on the first pass of their design? Well luckily for you, I can do a little character work drawing too! As with the rest, there are examples below:
